INSTANT SURVIVAL TIP: Super-cheap medical supplies
I hit the jackpot this last weekend, and it was a pretty big one. My kids and I were doing the estate/garage sale route, and one of the estate sales we visited had a huge amount of medical supplies at rock bottom prices. When I saw boxes of latex exam gloves for a dollar a box, I grabbed them all! Also on the shelf were boxes of bandaids, sterile gauze pads, rolls of adhesive and gauze tape, and antibiotic ointment packets. In all, I spent $8 and left with a ton of supplies for our first aid kits!
Very often, elderly patients receiving in-home care accumulate supplies just like these. They’re perfectly good, sometimes come in never-opened packages, and are a quick and easy way to stock up. You also may find stethoscopes, thermometers, heating pads, and a lot more. Keep an eye out for estate sales, in particular, especially if you live near a retirement community.

That is a great idea! Thank you!
I have been picking up medical items at Walgreens. They are constantly having sales and closeouts. If you combine those deals with coupons, you can get a great deal.

I do love hunting for prep goodies at garage sales….I just wish they didn't start so darn early.

You specifically noted that "estate sales" are the best for preppers. No average family that knows enough to buy first aid gear, emergency supplies, kerosene heaters or other "prep" supplies will be selling them. However, many of our elderly were raised to be self sufficient and, when the pass on or are institutionalized, their families simply want to get rid of the "junk" Grandpa had collected.

Don't forget Craig's List always has a free section. It amazes me the stuff people give away.

I have been browsing your site for a little while and must say this is a great idea, also flea markets have people that buy out storage units filled with the stuff. Yesterday my local Walmart had a sale on generic meds for .88 so I picked up quite a few of the things we needed for under $15!
