More than ever, our electronics keep us connected. Today’s giveaway features a 5Star Urgent Responseunit, complete with 3 free months of service.
I first found out about the 5Star Urgent Response service a few weeks ago, and have had the chance of setting it up and using it myself. Since my kids and I travel on our own quite often, I was interested to see if it might be another layer for keeping us safe, no matter where we go.
The 5Star is a mobile alert device that is connected to certified agents that are ready at the touch of a button. They’re trained in basic emergency procedures and can connect the user to 911 with the 5Star device — no need for an additional cell phone.
Very often, people in crisis are unable to give accurate directions to their location or even an address, so the 5Star is also a GPS system. This would be particularly helpful for an elderly loved one, a college kid in unfamiliar surroundings, and younger kids who need a way to get help fast.
For kids who have long commutes to school, who live in areas that are less than safe, or spend long period of time at home alone, the 5Star might give you both a little more peace of mind. With the touch of a button they’re in contact with an adult who has been trained to assess and take action in numerous emergency situations.
In order to get started with the 5Star, I had to first register my unit. This was done online, quickly and easily. I had read comments from some users that the registration process was cumbersome, but I didn’t find that to be true at all. I entered some basic personal information, contact information for 2 or 3 relatives, and my doctor’s phone number. That was it.
If a user has multiple doctors, emergency contacts, hospital preferences, and is on various medications, then, yes, the process will take longer, but that’s to be expected. However, with this additional information, the 5Star agent will be able to more rapidly provide the help required for a person’s particular situation and condition.
Since the 5Star is more than just a small piece of technology but also a service, owners subscribe to that service for $14.99/month. There are no contracts involved or cancellation fees, unlike similar services.
My mother-in-law pays twice as much for her unit (from another company) and it’s only operational inside her home.
This video shows the unit in action.
The winner of the 5Star will receive not only the electronic unit but also 3 months of service, for free.
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment telling me who you want to use this unit and why. That’s it!
Giveaway ends in 5 days at midnight on Friday, August 16, and the winner will be notified the next day. Your 3 months of free service begins the day the unit is shipped, so be sure to activate and register it right away!
