CALIFORNIA classes

It’s my privilege to team up with Honeyville Farm in Rancho Cucamonga to teach classes in August.  If you live in the area, I’d love to meet you at one of these classes!  You can register for them here.

The store’s location is at 9175 Milliken Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga.  For more information, you can call them directly at (909) 243-1050.

Each class is $15 and includes a manual.  If you wish to attend two classes, you get a smokin’ deal: two for $25!  Walk-ins are welcome, but I can guarantee class materials only for those pre-registered.

Cooking Off the Grid, Saturday, August 28, noon to 1:30 p.m.

Every family should have more than one method of heating food and pasteurizing water without being dependent on the power grid.  Electrical outages, rolling black-outs or just roughing it in the wilderness don’t have to mean eating cold ravioli out of the can!

This 90-minute class will teach you how to cook delicious, healthy meals off the grid with the use of a solar oven and what to look for when buying one.  You’ll also learn about an energy efficient rocket stove and even a homemade hobo stove!  Your class manual includes tips for beginners, directions for making a hobo stove, recipes, and more.

The Top Ten Foods to Store, Saturday, August 28, 2:30 to 4 p.m.

This class is for beginners and experienced food storage pros alike who want to learn more about specific foods that should make up the core of any long-term storage.  Why should tomato products be near the top of the list, and do you really need hundreds of pounds of wheat?  This class will help you clearly define any gaps in your own food storage and focus on foods that are the most versatile, available, and affordable.  This class includes a manual with additional tips, recipes and worksheets.
