Have you thought of ways to introduce your prepping efforts without freaking out your kids?  I know mine pick up on every little emotional vibe. When we first began stocking up on food and supplies, putting together 72 hour kits, and storing water, they watched, wide-eyed and had plenty of questions.

How have you brought up the topic of preparedness with your kids?  What suggestions do you have for parents who want their kids to be aware but not overwhelmed?
